Weird Ales 3: Last Orders, an inebriating anthology from Theresa Derwin and Lynne M. Cochrane, is now available in paperback. Besides luminaries such as Gav Thorpe, it also includes a nasty little story by me. “Tenebrae Dark” sees a corporate headhunter find more than he bargained for in his search for the secret of the eponymous drink.
It’s a fairly quick little story, and one I wrote almost a decade ago. What can I say – sometimes it takes a ridiculously long time to find the right market for a given work.

It’s been a good while since I’ve done one of these. Figured I might as well start back up with another scrap of free writing from my commonplace book. It’s more a vignette than a story in and of itself. The old store, and its odd decorations, is a real place, though there’s nothing inside but empty shelves and cobwebs. (more…)
Today’s commonplace book entry is a bit of free writing from a few years ago. I used to scratch out little vignettes like this every other day or so in order to warm up the old creative muscles, and play with ideas. I don’t do it so much anymore, mostly due to a lack of time. (more…)
